The time tracking template uses the advanced of features of Excel, such as pivot tables, slicers, and drop-down lists. All these advanced features also require advanced knowledge of Excel. But you will get everything ready and prepared on this free time tracking template. The Time Log worksheet records hours worked by entering the date, project, task, start time and end time. Time of breaks should not be included in billable hours. Here, the unit of time count is minute.
Projects and Tasks: The Project ID and Task ID columns are for Data Validation to create drop-down lists. It enables you to select from the ongoing active set of projects. The Task ID list relies on the Project ID. The change in the drop-down list depends on the Project ID that you choose.
Monitor Hours Worked: The top of the Excel sheet summarizes total hours worked for the current day, the current week, and a custom time period that you can change by entering the start and end dates.
Marking Hours as Billed: After making a bill for hours worked, you should update the time log by putting an “x” in the Billed column. You could use other value such as “n/a” if you want to track work that is not billable.
Adding rows: With the help of Excel’s special Table feature, the time tracking log table enables you to add more rows to the bottom by just dragging the bottom corner of the table down. Additional rows can also be inserted in the table in the traditional way. The formulas in the Hours and Current Period are automatically copied when you insert or add new rows.
